ImageViewer: Video Player and Photo Image Viewer App Reviews
*****
Love it ! Best viewer out there. Wish it could do simple modifications like rename, rotate and move but as far as viewer goes: the best.
not enough
no option installed for file transfer. just to view. you cannot move or copy your images to different folders. think twice
I’m amazed at the number of filetypes this software handles well. Previously I needed several apps and now need only one. It would be really nice if the app could keep track of the last folder/item used and return there when the program is restarted, though. Strong “thumbs up”.
Does not work
Installed this app and it does not work (OSX Mavericks, MacBook Pro). Plays a video for a few seconds then freezes. Wasted money and time.
it is a multimedia player. i can view pictures and photos by it and i can watch videos by it as well. it supports many kinds of formats. it is so great.
amazing app
This app has so many great featured i’ve desired in other apps! Best of its kind :)
I purchased this mostly due to wanting to use it as a slideshow program for pictures in a specific folder structure. It does this quite well. However, I was greatly disappointed to find that it doesn’t let me set the timing between the display of the pictures. It’s very basic in functionality without any extra features.
Very good program for viewing compressed photos, can also save photos in compressed file. When save is selected the name of the saved photo is “untitled” and either a new name or the original name must be typed in. I do not understand why the file name does not default to the original name of the file. Very time consuming when saving many photos and a file name has to be entered for every photo. When saving from the program the default for the file name should be the original name of the file not “untitled".
Who ever designed this app, must be working with photos a lot as it solves so many of my past frustrations. The 3 pain view is awesome. My only frustrations are: - Ability to send the photo to photoshop or any editor. Now, if you find a photo that needs editing, you still need to open photoshop and look for that photo. - Sort functions only work with the files highlighted. So, if you have, say, 2000 photos in a folder and you want to sort by size, you must hightlight each and every file (cmd -a does not work) and only then will any of the sort functios work. A nice feature to add would be: - Allow the user to create or modify color label and/or image categories. It would to be better if we I able to create my own labels or categoris to better fit what i am doing. Great job!!!
Got a brand new Mac Mini a week ago and purchased this to view pictures. But it does not work. I can not see any pictures. Evrey other app I purchased worked. This is the first time that an app does not work for me. I’ll like to get the money back. Wasting of my time and money.
As a quick and inexpensive way to browse Mac files, this no nonsense app isnt all bad. But there is definitely room for improvement. The App Store banner states the app is on sale, marked down from $14.99. I would not pay $15 for this app. (-) Just bought Xview and used it for about 15 minutes. I am rather disappointed I cannot create a custom category with which to flag my images. For instance, it would be convienient for me to be able to create a "PSD" image/category flag to allow me to assign and only view .PSD files in a given folder (searching on psd doesn’t work). Or perhaps a clients name, or project date, or… you get the idea. Without that powerful ability, this app wont see a lot of use by me in the future. (-) The Xviews "preferences" option is grayed out. Surely there are some preferences that could be stuck in there to help a user customize the app. For instance, "custom categories" :) (-) There is apparently no associated Xview help. No matter how KISS an app is, imo, there should be a help file. (-) I opened an MP4 movie that was located in one of my project files. I would like to have an option of switching between thumbnail and file (list) views, to better see creation/modification dates and file sizes BEFORE selecting the movie for full view. The same is true with images. For movies, unlike Finder, Xview shows the Quick Time thumbnail for .MP4 and .MOV files, rather than the first video frame. If that is the case, Id rather see the files in list view anyhow. (+) I am pleased Photoshop .PSD files show up in the Xview browser. It would be nice to be able to right click/open them within their native app (or any file for that matter) directly from within the Xview browser.
no good.
its so bad,it does not work, how do i get my money back, very frustrating to use, its limp. go some where else.
I’ve been looking for a 3 pane viewer like the one I used to use in Windows. This is it. I rated it at 5 stars just for the 3 pane viewing and the fact that I got it free. For viewing and deleting images it works perfect for me on my mac mini running Yosemite. I wasn’t looking for a “all-in-one” iPhoto or Picasa replacement, so I can’t speak to any other functionality. My search is over.
The program only seems to open compressed files (zip or rar). Won’t open jpgs unless they are from a zip or rar file. Crashes when a rar file 500mb or greater. I would like a refund
Great programming example
Thank u so much for this soft . this is MUST HAVE ONE! tried many progs but this one is my fevorite .
But for three very annoying things, this app would be perfect
The program is almost perfect but it has three annoying features/bugs that render it awkard to use. First, the width of the left-hand panel is not adjustable and is too small Second, the thumbnails in the middle panel are too small and can’t be scaled up Third, you can’t delete a photo using the delete key (or any key). You have to click an icon and then you get a very annoying confirmation message. This makes is painful to go through large numbers of photos deleting many of them.
It is supposed to play mp4 files but doesn’t.
I selected this app because its description claimed that it plays mp4 files. I attempted to use it for this purpose with a working mp4, and instead it showed the broken file icon. An explanation is reuired.
Crashes every time
